Draft, pending legal review. This text describes how HYPER LIGHT works today; the Owner's legal details and governing law are still to be confirmed, and it is not yet in force as a contract.

These terms govern the HYPER LIGHT community on the Site: profiles, posts, comments, private messages, reports, verification and notifications (the "Community"). They add to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which still apply to your account. You are asked to agree to these terms before you first write anything in the Community: a profile, a post, a comment, a message or a verification request. If a later version changes them, you are asked again before you next write.

1. Who can take part

  • The Community is open to signed-in accounts. To post, comment or message you need a community profile; to start a conversation you also need a confirmed e-mail address.
  • One profile per account. Your profile shows the name, handle, location, specialisations, description and portfolio links you enter. Your e-mail address is never shown.

2. Your content

  • You keep what you write. Your posts, comments, messages, profile and portfolio remain yours.
  • The licence you give. So that the Community can work, you give HYPER LIGHT (the "Owner") a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, copy, show and transmit your content on the Site, to the people the Site shows it to, for as long as it is on the Site. The licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies kept in backups and records described in section 8.
  • You are responsible for it. Post only what you have the right to share. Show files, designs, photos and fixture definitions made by someone else need their permission.
  • Text only. Posts, comments and messages are plain text. Images and files cannot be uploaded; link to them from your portfolio instead. Links in a portfolio go to other sites, which the Owner does not control.

3. What is not allowed

You may not post, send or link to:

  • spam, advertising you were not invited to make, or the same message sent again and again;
  • harassment, bullying, threats or content that encourages violence;
  • hateful content against people for who they are;
  • sexual content;
  • anything illegal, including content that infringes someone's copyright, trademark or other rights, such as another company's fixture library or licensed show files shared without permission;
  • someone else's personal data — an address, a telephone number, a private message — without their consent;
  • content that pretends to be another person, organisation or HYPER LIGHT staff;
  • malware, phishing, or ways to bypass a licence, the console's activation or the Site's security;
  • licence keys, activation keys or account passwords, your own or anyone else's.

Keep to lighting, shows, DMX, projection and the console. Content that is off topic may be hidden.

4. Private messages

  • A conversation is between its two members. Other members cannot read it, and staff have no tool to read it. It may be read only where the law requires it or to investigate a serious complaint of abuse.
  • A member may turn new conversations off on their profile. You can start at most ten new conversations a day.
  • Blocking: you can block any member from their profile. They can then no longer message you or comment on your posts, and nothing they do notifies you.

5. Reports and moderation

  • Any member can report a post or a comment to staff, with a reason. The author is not told who reported it.
  • Staff may hide content that breaks these terms (it can be restored) or remove it (its text is erased for good). The author is always told what happened and why, in their notifications.
  • Staff may make an account read-only in the Community (it can read but not write) or suspend it (no Community pages), for a set time or until lifted, and may hide all of its content at the same time. The member is told the reason and the end date.
  • There is no hidden moderation: the Owner does not make a member's content invisible to others while letting them believe it is visible.
  • Every staff decision is recorded in the Site's audit log by reference and reason — not the content itself.
  • To ask about a decision, or to report a private message, write to support.

6. Verification

  • A member may ask staff to verify their profile, saying what to check and giving a link as evidence. Staff may verify it, decline with a reason, or later remove the mark with a reason.
  • The Verified mark means staff checked, when they gave it, that the profile is who it says. It is not an endorsement of the member's work or a guarantee of their services.

7. Notifications and e-mail

  • Messages, comments on your posts, answers to your comments and staff decisions about your account reach you as notifications on the Site.
  • Notifications still unread after 15 minutes are mailed to you in one message, at most once an hour, and only to an address you have confirmed. You can turn these e-mails off on your dashboard. A decision on a verification request is mailed at once to a confirmed address.

8. What the Community keeps

  • Kept while your account exists: your profile and portfolio, posts, comments, messages, the members you blocked, the reports you made (the reason and your note), your notifications, any verification request (your note and link), any restriction on your account with its reason, and when you agreed to these terms and to which version.
  • Deleting: deleting your account deletes all of the above. To delete a single post or comment, or your whole account, write to support; a delete key on the Site is not available yet. Content staff removed has its text erased at once.
  • Backups: the Site's database is copied once a day and the last fourteen copies are kept, so deleted content can remain in a backup for up to fourteen days.
  • Audit log: staff actions are kept permanently by reference and reason, without what you wrote.
  • The Community's data is used only to run the Community. It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising or profiling.

9. Changes and status

The Owner may change these terms. A new version is shown here with its version number and date, and you are asked to agree to it before you next write in the Community. While this document is marked as a draft it is pending legal review.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms: through the portal's contact route.
